Tame Those Manes!

We all have struggle with our hair every once in a while. From breakage, to dryness, to delayed growth, we’ve all been there.

Let’s just talk about my personal hair struggles for a moment. I’m completely natural and I have been for going over six years now. For those of you that don’t know what me being natural means it means that my hair has not been altered in any way by chemicals. Chemicals are often used in perms and texturizers to either straighten, curl, or soften your hair. The way that my hair flows from my scalp is the way it stays. I will admit that I do sometimes use heat to curl or straighten my hair, but there is no chemical use.

Over the past six years, my hair has gotten visibly thicker and longer. That’s a definate win. During the end of high school and my beginning college years I noticed the hair breakage that resulted from the use of perms. From then on I knew that I needed to slowly convert to becoming natural. Even though I am extremely thankful for the progress that my hair has had, being natural has it’s cons.

*sigh* …hair washing. Me going though the whole hair washing and drying process can literally take an entire day. When you’re natural with thick hair you have to be really mindful of how you wash and dry your hair. You need and you’ll always need to use a good, thick, and strong paddle brush. I can NOT stress the importance of a sturdy paddle brush. If you don’t use one during washing and drying you can put your hair at risk of becoming matted. Not only can it mat up, but the shampoo and conditioner can’t fully seep to your scalp like it needs to. If only you could see my trashed collection of broken brush handles, you’ll understand the struggles that I’ve endured.

Finally!

There is a God! I finally found a sturdy brush that doesn’t fall apart like a wimp. This Boar bristle hair brush by is made with natural bamboo. It contains boar hair and nylon pins. This duo is great for smoothing and detangling. This brush works wonders!

Yes, I wrote an entire article to do a review of a brush. If you go through the struggles that I do when it comes to hair care, then you would also love this brush. I’m just trying to help my fellow friends out there I know you’re tired of aching scalps.
